Government Relations Firm Rebrand Case Study

Client Overview:
Nassau Government Relations is a New Jersey lobbying and public policy firm that helps organizations navigate state and federal government to get results. Led by co-founders Matthew Dikovics, Managing Partner, and Michael Pock, Partner, Nassau brings 45 years of combined experience in state and federal government to clients ranging from the American Chemistry Council to the American Kennel Club to the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association. The firm has secured more than $150 million in government funding, obtained 25+ government licenses, and served 50+ clients. Their expertise was proven at the highest levels. Their brand wasn’t showing it.

Challenges:
Nassau first came to me for a photo shoot. In government relations, people hire people. Clients are trusting a firm with decisions that can make or break their business, so Matt and Mike needed to look like exactly who they are: confident, authoritative, and the kind of partners you’d want in the room when it matters. Just as important, they needed to look likable and approachable.

Once we started talking, the bigger issue came into focus. The website didn’t telegraph their expertise or experience. Decades in government, major wins, and a client roster most firms would envy were buried under a site that looked like it belonged to a smaller, less experienced operation. For a firm whose entire value is credibility, that gap was costing them before the first conversation.

Creative Approach:
We built everything around one central truth: government action can make or break a business, and too many organizations settle for a firm that offers access without results. That became the story that anchors the brand: When the stakes are this high, you can’t afford to choose wrong.

Every creative decision, from the photography to the color palette to the logo, was made to communicate trust, authority, and proven results to organizations facing their most critical public policy challenges.

Key Components:

Brand Photography: A custom photo shoot positioned Matt and Mike as the authorities they are. The images balance confidence and command with warmth and approachability, so prospects see seasoned professionals they’d actually want to work with. The shoot produced headshots and brand images used across the website, LinkedIn, and press.

Messaging & Story: I developed a story that speaks directly to what’s at stake for Nassau’s clients. Headlines like “When the Stakes Are This High, You Can’t Afford to Choose Wrong” and “You deserve more than access. You deserve results.” cut straight to the fear every organization has about choosing the wrong firm, and position Nassau as the one that delivers.

Logo Redesign: I redesigned the Nassau logo around an icon with real meaning: the cupola of Nassau Hall in Princeton, the building that inspired the firm’s name. In 1783, the Continental Congress met in Nassau Hall, making it the nation’s capitol for a time. The new mark connects the firm to a powerful symbol of American government and gives the brand history, gravity, and instant recognition.

Color & Visual Identity: We kept Nassau’s existing brand colors to preserve their equity, then anchored the palette in a deep navy blue to signal trust, stability, and authority. The result is a visual identity that feels established and serious, exactly what clients expect from a firm handling high-stakes government matters.

Website Design & Development: I redesigned the website to put Nassau’s credibility front and center. Proof points like $150M+ in government funding, 45 years of combined experience, and 50+ clients served appear immediately. A wall of recognizable client logos, clear practice areas, press coverage of real client wins, and a simple three-step approach work together to build trust and drive consultations.

Results:
Nassau Government Relations now shows up the way Matt and Mike always have, with authority, confidence, and a track record to back it up. What started as a photo shoot became a complete brand transformation. The firm’s decades of experience, its high-profile clients, and its record of real results finally have a brand that matches them. When the stakes are high, Nassau now looks like the obvious choice.
